The Cyborg Project
The Cyborg Project, was comprised of two billboards and five sculptures. The two public billboards faced each other and were centrally located on the same road intersection in downtown Saskatoon.
Each of the Elizabethan-styled collars, worn by the models pictured on the billboards, are made from large, pleated photographs resembling textiles or lace. The textile images comprising the photographs are created from photos of the buildings directly behind each of the billboards. The result is the pictured model wearing the building behind her as an Elizabethan-inspired collar.
Five sculptures comprised a second part of the project and were exhibited at the Gordon Snellgrove Gallery on the University of Saskatchewan campus. The five sculptures are made from commercial back-lit film printed with photos manipulated to create the illusion of textiles and lace. The back-lit film is then pleated and suspended on metal armatures. The collar sculptures are all life-sized. 2005 – 2006.
